When we decided to renovate our master bathroom, we knew it would be a large undertaking. From the first time we spoke with Dan about the project, we knew he was the carpenter we wanted to work with and he made this process as easy as it could be. Dan is dependable, professional, and his experience is just what any project needs.
Every remodel comes with surprises and nothing of the surprises in our project phased Dan, which was wonderful. In fact, some of the suggestions that Dan made on the project became our favorite elements. We will definitely use Dan on our next project!
Dan Ferchak has done two extensive remodeling jobs for us. We have been very pleased with both jobs. I am an interior designer and I have high expectations from craftsmen. Friends and friends of friends call me to ask for recommendations, and I have suggested Dan to many.
Dan is eager to please, always on time, honest, a great craftsman, and he communicates well. Dan is always on the job, he works while he is on the job. When needed, Dan does contract other craftsmen to expedite a job or for other areas of expertise. Dan knows his limits and you know that your project will be in good hands.
Dan’s business is full service. He can see a project from the planning stages if needed, including design, measuring and permits. He is easy to work with and since he is on the job daily, it makes the project move along as to discussing changes if needed.
My wife Tammy and I bought a very neglected 1929 Spanish Eclectic home at the La Jolla Shores which needed restoration, repair, and a major remodeling of the kitchen and baths. In addition, we were going to attempt to qualify for Historic Designation by the City of San Diego. It was crucial that the restoration be completed, adhering to very strict guidelines.
Dan Furchak was responsible for successfully completing all of the objectives. In addition to the original goals, the house won the coveted SOHO Residential Preservation award for 2007 and the City of San Diego granted us an award for Excellence in Architectural Restoration in 2008.
Dan is a very talented individual. His knowledge and skill in construction are of a craftsmanship level. He is a terrific collaborator who is always mindful of your goals and your budget. He presents options and will discuss them in detail until you’re comfortable making a decision. He is an extraordinary planner, able to schedule all of the trades people in a way that the maximum number of people are working and not getting in each others way. This enabled our projected to get completed in an amazingly short time given the scope of the work. Dan loves a challenge and is a real problem solver. The best compliment I could give Dan is that when the project was completed, I was really sorry that I would no longer get to work with him on a daily basis.
We are very pleased with the work Dan did for us. He tiled a hallway. Not only did he lay the tile perfectly, he designed the pattern. He also was neat and tidy during the entire project and cleaned up beautifully when it was over. I would recommend him to anyone.
Our back door stuck shut during the rains we had last winter. When we contacted a contractor to look at it we were told that the foundation of the house had shifted and would have to be repaired. Naturally we wanted a trusted second opinion before deciding to invest so much in repairs. But who? having no established relationship with a building contractor we were at a loss.
We asked around and Dan Ferchack came recommended by a good friend. At first we were concerned that our project might be too “small potatoes” to such a highly qualified contractor. He came out to our home and performed a no cost examination. As a result of his detailed and knowledgeable inspection it was determined that the foundation was good and that the door had been installed improperly (by the first contractor we contacted). Dan was able to determine that the door needed more work on the jam and entry and that the door itself had actually swollen shut due to an error in the original work allowing water to infiltrate the wood.
Dan saved us a lot of money and worry, as well as being able to deconstruct and repair the door to perfection. His attention to detail, honesty and friendly manor is highly appreciated. We will be having more extensive remodeling work on our home and Dan will be our choice.

When our yoga studio's front desk was quite literally on it's "last leg", Dan Ferchak came highly recommend to us by one of our students for whom he had made custom kitchen cabinetry. We decided to meet with Dan, and it was immediately clear that he was pleasant, professional, and knowledgeable. I'm not going to lie, we had quite the list of "ideal" style, size and functionality requirements, yet were working within a pretty tight budget. Dan listened attentively, took notes, jotted down some preliminary sketches--and off he went.
Because the desk was built in three parts, and constructed off site, we were pleased to get photographs to update us on the progress. When the desk was ready, Dan and his colleague arrived on time and did a great job piecing it together at the studio. The end-product surpassed all of our expectations! The wood is heavy and beautifully stained, and Dan even added the custom glass panels along the top for easy flyer-display! The corner is rounded and gives us ample front-facing display possibilities, and he made sure to include a shelf in the back for our printer and binders to sit on.
We couldn't be happier and it has truly become the focal point of the lobby! Come see for yourself!
